They Are People Too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmTXGQ2BhUA

This video was amazing! I think that Amanda in the video has a great point in the videos that she makes. It seems like people today do just look at children and adults with severe or non-severe Autism like there is something wrong with the people for the way they think and process. I also thought that they way Amanda made her avatar in the Second Life Network was really cool. The way that she mad the avatar have all of her body language and everything was just amazing! I think that more people should try and see things from an Autistic persons point of view before they judge them.

What is STEMtube and how can it help?

http://www.stemtube.com/

Upon reading the blog posted on http://www.edutopia.org/stem-education-online-resource-stemtube , I came across a website called STEMtube and decided to check it out. This website is a place that has many different pictures of students work in different subject areas such as Science, Math, and Engineering. In the blog post, the lady talks about how she wishes that she knew about this when her son was doing his science experiment. I think that this website is a great idea. It's a great way for students to take pictures of the great work that they do and share it with everyone that might be interested. I would definitely use something like this in my classroom if we were to do a big project in groups so that each group could see all the different works that have been created.

Technology in Physical Education

Recently, UNI hosted a physical education forum that demonstrated how technology is being used in the physical education classroom. In the article it states that more and more children in schools are becoming obese. They believe that by using technology it will help the students maintain their interest and work just as hard. The common technology that is used in the classroom is a heart monitor as well as an activity monitor. The use of technology in the physical education classroom really shows how technology has grown and how it is being integrated into our classrooms.

Audio Files in the Classroom

The use of audio files in the classroom at first seemed a little questionable, especially if the teacher is still in the room. Why use them if you can just talk to the students like you normally would. The article Listen Up!: Using Audio Files in the Curriculum gives at least three unique ways to use audio files in your class. The one that peeked my interest was to use the audio files to greet your students as they come into the classroom. They discussed how you could have a still picture and use the audio to make it seem real for your students. You could use this when teaching a lesson about someone in history and have the students give the person a voice using a script or something.
